Today I called someone, and they told me, "Yes, I’m a citizen now and I'm registered to vote." Both policy and direct impact work are very important to me, because one feeds the other. We’re supporting people on a process like naturalizing, which can be long and stressful, helping people get over this hurdle so they’re ready to vote and make their opinions and voices heard, to be civically engaged in more ways.

This year was filled with a mixture of success and powerful learning moments for CIRC. Overall, we are proud to report strides in pro-immigrant policies from expanding the license program for undocumented immigrants to creating pathways to increased funding for undocumented students! However, our work is far from over and there is much progress still needed to ensure that our Colorado elected officials are supporting immigrants and the refugee community who continue to be the most vulnerable among us.
