Together, we oppose the proposed “public charge” rule change that makes wealth a prerequisite for legal immigration. We treasure our immigrant friends, families, and neighbors who enrich our culture and society, drive our economy, and make our communities safer. The use of public programs, which help millions of immigrant and non-immigrant families stay healthy and working, strengthens our state and country. By making the use of these programs a disqualifier for legal status, we are threatening our country’s future and rejecting the vision of fairness and inclusiveness that many in our communities value and have fought for centuries to uphold. We call on all Coloradans to join us in fighting back against this dangerous and cruel proposal.
