The Denver Post reveals disturbing conduct by ICE agents against immigrants in Colorado in article titled, “Colorado immigrants allege cruel treatment in ICE enforcement tactics and detention, call for changes.” This article goes in depth on a recently released qualitative report by the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition – CIRC and CSU School of Social Work on ICE misconduct in Colorado.
The report and article follow the passage of HB23-1100 that would put further limits on ICE’s ability to work and collaborate with Colorado Sheriffs. The bill would prohibit ICE from renting bed spaces from local jails in Colorado and prevent any future private immigration detention centers from being created in the state. HB23-1100 has passed the state House and Senate and is heading to the Governor’s desk.
