Program area(s) and general summary: Responsible for supporting CIRC members and local immigrant communities in the Mountains of Colorado. Engage CIRC regional members and broader community to mobilize around CIRC’s strategic issue campaigns and base building activities.
Reports to: Mountain Regional Organizer
The Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC) is a statewide membership-based coalition of immigrant, labor, interfaith, youth and ally organizations founded in 2002 to build a unified statewide voice to improve the lives of immigrants and refugees in Colorado and the United States. CIRC is a 501(c)(3) organization under the Internal Revenue Code and achieves its mission through non-partisan civic engagement, public education and advocacy to win fair, humane and workable public policies.
The CIRC Mountain Regional Fellow is responsible for working with the Mountains Regional Organizer to support CIRC members in rural parts of the Mountains with local community building, providing member trainings, and implementation of CIRC’s strategic priority campaigns.
- Training and Leadership Development
- Connect members to trainings and base building opportunities
- Provide trainings as applicable, such as Know your Rights trainings
- Strengthen fellows’ own professional development and political analysis through participation in CIRC 2021 Fellowship Program.
- Support Strategic Campaigns
- Work with members, base and allies to develop and execute local/regional components of the statewide campaign plans
- Support with regional/ local priorities (to be determined on a regional-basis) including, but not limited to:
- Protections for Farmworkers in Colorado
- Reimagining public safety and sheriff accountability in Colorado
- COVID relief support for immigrant communities in the Mountains
- Support with local media strategies
- Language Justice
- CIRC’s new Rural Caucus
- Hotline cases and/or legal services support for community members
- Drivers License Support for community members
- Coordination and Support of Regional CIRC members
- Expand community outreach, strengthen existing connections, and cultivate new relationships in immigrant communities, especially rural communities, in the Mountains of Colorado. This includes routine 1:1s with new and existing connections as well as attending and participating in local events.
- Strengthen long-term working relationships and networks of existing and emerging immigrant-based and ally organizations in the Mountains region and recruit new organizations to become members of CIRC.
- Support the Mountains Regional Organizer to organize and host quarterly regional meetings.
- Function as a liaison between local member organizations, and CIRC MountainsOrganizer (when applicable).
- Supporting on Regional Communications:
- Support organizer to create and send out regional updates to members (could be in the form of a newsletter)
- Strengthen regional social media presence on regional facebook pages
- Keep the region connected and informed while the Mountains Regional Organizer is out on leave.
- Participation in Collective and Collaborative Grassroots Fundraising
- Support CIRC’s development team during Colorado Gives day to achieve individual/team fundraising goals
- Support Regional organizer to execute the regional CIRC 20 year celebration events
- Demonstrated Commitment to Anti-Oppression
- Participate actively in CIRC’s internal anti-oppression and inclusivity efforts to make progress toward a vision of an organizational culture that reflects the values/principles that we are fighting for in the community.

- Candidate must have reliable transportation during the duration of the fellowship

- This position requires travel within the region to events like community meetings and events on a weekly basis
- Bilingual – English and second language that reflects the immigrant population in the region.
COVID-19 and Remote Work: In an effort to protect the safety and health of our team and our communities during the ongoing public health crisis, all CIRC employees, including fellows, will continue to work from home until further notice.
Terms of Employment
- Starting date July 5th, 2022 through September, 2023.
- This is a full-time, 15 month long, unionized position
- Salary and Benefits:
- $20.28/hour. This position will include mileage reimbursement for travel within the region. There will be a three-month probationary period.
- Generous PTO Policy: All full time CIRC staff start with two weeks of paid time off, in addition to observed holidays. Staff also receives the week between December 24th and January 2nd as a paid holiday.
- Cell Phone Stipend: CIRC will pay a $75 monthly stipend to support the use of your cell phone
- Health Insurance: The Regional Fellow, as well as up to two dependents under the age of 18, are eligible to receive %100 employer-sponsored health, vision and dental insurance beginning the first day of employment.
- Professional Development: $1,000 in professional development funds annually
- Reimbursements will be made for expenditures during the normal course of your work at the following levels:
- Mileage- 65 cents per mile
- Travel and supply expenses will be reimbursed based on approval of submitted forms and receipts.
