2020 Legislative Report
Despite the session being paused and then shortened due to the coronavirus pandemic, we still managed a series of wins in legislation! We passed many key bills to support immigrants in Colorado, including SB20-083 which prohibits ICE from making courthouse arrests. We also gained traction with our campaigns for data privacy and the establishment of a Colorado Immigrant Legal Defense Fund, and killed an anti- immigrant bill run by Representative Williams!

Denver, CO - A whistleblower from the Irwin County immigration detention center in Georgia reports a variety of medical abuses perpetrated against immigrant detainees by ICE officials including forced hysterectomies and “jarring medical neglect” during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. CIRC condemns these atrocities and calls for justice for detained immigrants, the immediate shutdown of every detention center, and an end to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
