The Campaign for Universal Representation For All aims to address one of the most urgent issues of access to justice in our state and nation today. In Colorado, ICE has detained thousands of immigrants and held them in detention centers, forcing many to face immigration court and detention without a lawyer. This injustice leads to ripple effects of family trauma, negative impacts on childhood development, employment losses, and costs to the state in foster care. Studies show that immigrants with representation are 10 times more likely to have successful outcomes than those who are unrepresented. We’re fighting for Universal Representation for All because we believe access to due process is a fundamental right in the US, especially in cases where someone’s freedom is taken away.
This year, we passed HB-1194 to create a Statewide Immigration Legal Defense Fund in Colorado!
