ICE Raids Erode Trust, Profit Off Family Separation, and Harm Community Safety

Reports of planned ICE raids in Aurora targeting immigrants under the guise of public safety are deeply alarming. These operations are not about safety—they are about criminalizing immigrants, tearing families apart, and fueling the private prison industry’s profits at the expense of human suffering. The GEO detention center in Aurora and other for-profit facilities benefit when immigrants are funneled into detention instead of being afforded due process.

Recent raids, where DEA agents collaborated directly with ICE, raise serious concerns about racial profiling and law enforcement prioritizing immigration enforcement over community safety. The question remains: how many detained individuals were actually the subject of arrest warrants, and why were they sent to ICE custody instead of being processed through the criminal justice system?

Mass deportations devastate families and communities, leaving children without parents, forcing people from their homes, and pushing entire families into financial crisis. They don’t make us safer—they create fear, deter people from reporting crimes, and destabilize entire neighborhoods. The Trump administration’s rhetoric of “targeting criminals” is just another attempt to divide us and justify mass removals, but we are not fooled.

We urge local officials to reject ICE’s harmful tactics and call on our community to remain vigilant and learn your rights. If you or a loved one has been impacted by these raids, call the Colorado Rapid Response Network Hotline to report ICE activity and seek support. We will not stand for these blatant, racist attacks on our neighbors—we stand together for justice, dignity, and the right of every family to live free from fear.
