Workshop #3: Immigration Reform
Our Federal Steering Committee Subcommittee will be giving a presentation on their work and will lead us in a discussion with the coalition on potential strategies for our federal campaign.
Speaker Bio:
Carlos Rojas Rodriguez migrated from Peru to the US with his family in 2001 with tourist visas. After the visas expired, Carlos and his family became undocumented immigrants. Carlos attended and graduated from both Perth Amboy High School and Kean University in NJ as an undocumented student. In early 2016, Carlos co-launched the Cosecha Movement and became one of their lead organizers and strategy advisor. With Cosecha, Carlos led the creation of several Cosecha organizing hubs including Cosecha New Jersey, Cosecha Michigan, Cosecha Athens-Clarke Georgia and Cosecha Massachusetts. Carlos also led the call for “Un Dia Sin Inmigrantes” on May Day 2017 as well as the passage of the Driver’s Licenses Bill for undocumented immigrants with Cosecha NJ in December of 2019.
