Despite numerous testimonies against a proposed anti-immigrant measure in Aurora, the Aurora City Council and Mayor approved their resolution against newly arriving immigrants on February 26th on a vote of 7-3. CIRC’s Organizing Director Nayda Benitez & Denver Regional Organizer Chau Phan joined other community members in testifying against the resolution – underscoring how this measure would impact not just newly arriving migrants but ALL immigrants in Aurora, standing outside of the alleged values of the City of Aurora and impeding organizations and individuals who are eager to welcome newly arriving immigrants.
