The Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition recently supported an immigrant training event in Durango co-led by Denver immigrant lawyer, Hans Meyer. The event addressed recent ICE activity in the area and educated attendees on their constitutional rights. Western slope region organizer at CIRC, Beatriz Garcia, stated at the event, “The idea here is that we plant some seeds. Whether you do your part (by) volunteering, donating, talking to people, voting for people who actually represent and support immigrant rights, to actually speak(ing) and testify(ing) in public spaces where politicians are (listening) – all the actions that you do will matter.
