CIRC Condemns Douglas County Resolution to Support Mass Deportations

The Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC) condemns Douglas County’s resolution backing policies that would lead to the mass deportation of our neighbors, colleagues, and friends. This resolution is a dangerous step toward tearing apart Colorado families and communities.

Let’s be clear—this resolution isn’t about protecting Coloradans. It’s about spreading fear and division through lies about immigrant communities. Immigrants in Colorado contribute to our economy, enrich our culture, and strengthen the fabric of our communities. Policies that separate families and rip children from their parents’ arms are not only morally reprehensible but also harmful to public safety, trust, and economic stability.

“Douglas County’s decision is not just out of step with our values as a state—it is a blatant act of political theater rooted in racism and anti-immigrant hysteria. Colorado should invest in keeping families together and creating pathways to opportunity, not tearing families apart to score political points,” said Annette Leyva, South Regional Organizer with the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition.

We call on all Coloradans to stand together against policies of hate and fear, and to demand that our leaders protect the dignity and humanity of all who call this state home.
