Jossy Martinez issued the following statement on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition:
“The CIRC Board was dismayed to see a series of criticisms displayed publicly on Facebook naming CIRC staff and board members. We stand behind our staff. They work tirelessly in a difficult environment to bring change to our communities. A key principle in our work is to be led by people who are directly impacted by the policies on which we work. The majority of our membership, our board, and many of our staff are themselves immigrants who have experienced in their own lives the violence of the cruel immigration enforcement apparatus.
This work is challenging, and we always seek to learn so that we can improve and grow. We welcome constructive dialogue and direct communication with anyone who has concerns about CIRC. Not to do so leaves us unable to resolve issues and productively resolve conflict. We are committed to working with our communities to resolve conflict as we fight for justice for all immigrants in Colorado.”
