President Trump announced the end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that protects over 17,000 Coloradans. Members of Colorado communities face potentially being ripped from the social fabric and a economic fabric resulting in a potential loss in yearly GDP of over $850 million for the state as well as families being ripped apart.
DREAMers who are ineligible to renew DACA, immigrant rights advocates, faith leaders, and community push for Congressman Mike Coffman to STOP playing political games with our lives and follow the lead of Colorado Senators Michael Bennet and Cory Gardner and protect Colorado’s DREAMers by signing a discharge petition on a clean DREAM Act that does not include funding for Trump’s anti-immigrant, deportation agenda and move the Colorado legislative delegation to do the right thing for DREAMers and for the country. His support isn’t even an act of political bravery – public opinion on both sides of the aisle is on their side. 84 percent of Democrats, 74 percent of independents and 69 percent of Republicans believe DREAMers should be able to remain in the U.S.
218. That’s the magic number. And the first step in making sure that DREAMers still have a chance to build a future in the country they call home.
