“Roots of the Immigration Crisis: Why Are People Coming North?”

The Ecumenical Project for International Cooperation is pleased to host Soila Luna in Colorado. Soila is the General Coordinator of the human rights organization Fundación Don Sergio Méndez Arceo, Cuernavaca, Mexico, https://fundacionsergiomendezarceo.org/. She will be presenting (in Spanish with translation) a panorama of the roots of the immigration crisis, the challenges and hopes for the Mexican people with respect to food security, and protection of human rights and the environment. Soila Luna’s life calling has been to work for social justice in Mexico. A daughter of peasants who were poor migrants, she developed a spirit of struggle to overcome and feels solidarity always with the neediest. She describes herself as social fighter, human rights defender, popular educator, environmentalist, mother, wife, friend and companion of dreams and hopes with others.
