CO Rapid Response Network:Confirmer and Legal Observer Training!

February 9 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Free
The Colorado Rapid Response Network is a network of concerned and committed groups and volunteers who want to shine a light on potential injustice – and create the space for change. Saturday, February 9th we will partner with Colectivo of DU to train Confirmers and Legal Observers! Then turn your newfound skills into fierce community action by joining forces! Get trained to become a Confirmer (who confirms whether ICE activity is occurring after a call has been received by the Hotline). Then get trained to become an officially certified National Lawyers Guild Legal Observer. Legal observers are independent witnesses of ICE behavior and support the legal rights of vulnerable populations. While the focus of this training will be on how to support and observe in case of a raid conducted by immigration authorities, legal observers can apply what they learn in many situations, such as: * Accompanying immigrants and their families as they attend court dates or ICE check-ins. * Attending public demonstrations, protests, and other activities where there is a potential for conflict between the public or activists and the police, security guards, or other law enforcement officials. Those already trained as Confirmers will find it helpful to be cross-trained as Legal Observers and vice versa – that way you’ll be ready to respond in either role when you get the call from the CO Rapid Response Network Dispatcher. Please register for the training here, to receive the location. Child care and interpretation provided upon request. Lunch will be served! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeVQ9bT7yDJxecDAW5eOxMiyEKsvJEALOjYGho3NjYF5BOlXw/viewform
