COLORADO RAPID RESPONSE NETWORK RELAUNCHES 24 HR HOTLINE IN UNIFIED FRONT FOR IMMIGRANT RIGHTS

Colorado — On Monday, February 19th, the Colorado Rapid Response Network will relaunch the rapid response hotline for Colorado. The coalition is comprised of immigrant rights advocates and organizations fighting federal and state immigration enforcement and abuse of power. In a time where fear of mass deportations are growing and misinformation is spreading, the Rapid Response Network is looking to fight for the rights of immigrant communities via legal assistance, know your rights trainings and a 24hr hotline to combat ICE raids.

Dozens of volunteers across the western slope, received the proper training to participate in the Rapid Response Network.

James Curtsinger​, ​Organizing for Action​: “All people who reside in the United States are guaranteed certain rights when they deal with law enforcement authorities. Part of our responsibility as members of the Colorado Rapid Response network is to ensure that the rights of the immigrant community are respected by ICE and to call attention to it in the case that they are not. I enjoy many privileges simply by virtue of my birth place – not because I am smarter, harder working, or somehow more deserving than are members of the immigrant community who live in fear of having their lives and families torn apart. If I can use some of that privilege to lessen the fear and to call attention to the need for a humane immigration policy, then I am willing to do so.”

Brendan Greene​, ​Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition​: “We chose to do the relaunch of the Colorado Rapid Response network on Presidents Day because over the past year we have seen an all out attack on the civil liberties and rights of immigrant communities. In Colorado we are organizing to defend ourselves and will use our network of volunteers to identify patterns of abuse and hold ICE accountable. We are putting ICE on notice that we are watching and call on our community to step up and defend ourselves by reporting ICE activity in your area and calling 1-844-UNITE-41.”
