Job Summary: The Relational Organizing Manager’s primary responsibility will be executing successful relational organizing programming for CIRC Action Fund and related entities. The ideal candidate has campaign management experience and a proven track record in immigrant rights and/or social justice work. We will be hiring 2 iterations of this position: a Northern Relational Organizing Manager that staffs Denver, Aurora, and Greeley and a Southern Relational Organizing Manager that coordinates our operations in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Both positions will be based in Denver, but we will be flexible for strong candidates that live in any of the aforementioned areas.
Organizational Summaries: CIRC Action Fund (CIRCAF) is a corporation organized to operate exclusively for the promotion of social welfare under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. CIRCAF works to build a strong and thriving Colorado where all residents are treated with dignity and respect and have equal access to a fair and just quality of life and the opportunity to live united with family members. We achieve mission through advocating for fair, humane and workable public policies at the state and local level and by increasing the civic participation of new Americans.
The Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC) is a statewide membership-based coalition of immigrant, labor, interfaith, youth and ally organizations founded in 2002 to build a unified statewide voice to improve the lives of immigrants and refugees in Colorado and the United States. CIRC is a 501(c)(3) organization under the Internal Revenue Code and achieves its mission through non-partisan civic engagement, public education and advocacy to win fair, humane and workable public policies.
Specific Role and Responsibilities:
- Train C3 organizational members that are compatible with CIRCAF’s relational organizing model. This means organizing digital and, if possible dependent on social distancing, in-person trainings where we highlight the importance of relational organizing when empowering POC and immigrant voters to turn out, and train them on the specific tactics necessary to effectively implement relational organizing (ex: recruiting other volunteers, committing friends/family to vote, organizing social events to commit friends of friends to also get involved and create leadership pipelines through OutVote).
- Engage non-CIRC members/organizations in relational organizing. Our strategy when working with these organizations will mirror our work with our C3 members as it relates to training and recruitment. We will target organizations that have large POC memberships as well as local businesses, churches, unions, and student organizations.
- As CIRCAF’s relational program scales up, manage Relational Organizers to meet the following metrics: pledges to vote, friends/family contacted, volunteers and volunteer leaders recruited, and 1:1’s and active shifts completed.
- In coordination with the C4 Communications and Development Manager, organize mass peer-to-peer and friend-to-friend text campaigns via OutVote.
- Create content for relational organizing activities, such as friend-to-friend call and text language for staff and volunteers to use, relational trainings for C3 and non-C3 members/organizations, and, in coordination with the C4 Communications and Development Manager, digital call to actions.
- Coordinate with C4 Managing Director and Mobilization Manager on working with state and national partners, such as CO America Votes and Community Change Action, on crafting an effective 2020 relational organizing strategy.
Strong Commitment Towards Anti-Oppression:
- All staff are expected to be active participants in CIRC’s equity and inclusivity efforts to make progress toward a vision of an organizational culture that reflects the values and principles that we are fighting for.
- Substantive experience working in advocacy, community organizing, or a non-profit environment.
- Background in managing field operations in an electoral setting strong preferred. This position may also manage field metrics (doors, phones, texts) based on future social distancing requirements.
- Experience with VAN or PDI.
- Experience with peer-to-peer and relational texting tools such as Hustle and OutVote.
- Knowledge of, and relationships within, local and state immigrant rights movement.
- A passion for building a reflective democracy and power building in communities of color.
- Excellent communication skills, writing, budgeting, and time management skills.
- Up to 15% travel within state and occasional out of state travel for trainings and conferences.
Salary and Benefits:: Full-time position, competitive salary starting at $3,784 a month with a $500 monthly healthcare stipend ($4,284 total). This is a 2.5 month contracted position that will be renewed through election day (November 3) based on performance.
